Our shoes roundup picks the ASICS Solution Speed FF 3 as Best for Quick Players. This review answers what Filipino players want to know: how ASICS' lightweight speed shoe holds up on Manila's outdoor hard courts and in Philippine heat, and where you can still buy one in the PH now that the FF 4 is out.

Note: Rally PH has not playtested the Solution Speed FF 3. This review draws on ASICS Philippines' product pages, RunRepeat's independent lab data, PAGASA heat data, and our check of PH retailers on 29 October 2026.

Specs at a glance

  • Style codes: men 1041A438 (standard D width) · women 1042A250 (standard B width)
  • Tech (as ASICS lists it): FLYTEFOAM cushioning, SPEEDTRUSS for quickness and cutting, and an AHARPLUS rubber outsole for durability. The sockliner is solution-dyed (ASICS says about 33% less water and 45% less carbon).
  • Weight: 309 g (10.9 oz) in a men's US 9, against a 363 g lab average (RunRepeat)
  • Outsole thickness: 3.5 mm, against a 4.1 mm average (RunRepeat)

ASICS calls it a shoe "designed for the all-court tennis player who's seeking a fast and lightweight shoe that's built for speed". Unlike the ASICS Court FF 3, it doesn't list GEL or TWISTRUSS.

On Manila hard courts

Hard and shell courts dominate public play in Metro Manila, and the marquee public venues are hard. Rizal Memorial Tennis Center in Malate has newly resurfaced hard courts (₱600/hr by day and ₱1,000/hr from 5 PM through PSC booking), and CCP in Pasay has four outdoor hard courts. Rally's court directory tags venues such as Rizal Memorial, CCP, Kerry Sports Manila, Makati Sports Club, and Meralco as hard. If you're not sure what you play on, see our court surface guide.

Hard courts are abrasive. To save weight, the Solution Speed FF 3 uses a thinner outsole than most tennis shoes. Even so, RunRepeat measured only 0.4 mm of wear in its Dremel test, against a 0.8 mm average, and the AHARPLUS rubber came in at 84.0 HC hardness. So the light build doesn't mean it wears out fast on rough Manila courts.

Heat and breathability: its standout

PAGASA's "danger" heat index band is 42–51°C. In May 2026, forecasts reached 44°C at NAIA in Pasay and 42°C at Science Garden in Quezon City. In those conditions, airflow matters.

This is where the Solution Speed FF 3 stands out. RunRepeat gave it 5/5 for breathability (the average is 3) and called it "by far the most breathable tennis shoe in our lab". The reason is that the FF 3 drops the full-length PU coverage and exposes a very open mesh. The open upper still scored well on durability, with 5/5 for the toebox and 5/5 for heel padding (averages 3.7 and 3.2). At 309 g it is also "among the lightest tennis shoes" RunRepeat has tested. For comparison, RunRepeat measured the Court FF 3 at 406 g.

Even an airy shoe doesn't beat the midday sun. For humid Manila sessions, book early mornings or evenings, outside the 11 AM–3 PM window.

Speed vs stability: who should skip it

The trade-off is stability. RunRepeat says the shoe "leans more toward" the fast-but-less-stable side, and one of its listed cons is "Not very stable for baseline players". If you grind from the baseline and want a locked-in, durable platform, the ASICS Court FF 3 is the steadier pick. Choose the Solution Speed FF 3 if your game is built on footwork, quick direction changes, and covering the court.

Where to buy in the Philippines

On 29 October 2026 we found:

  • ASICS Philippines (official online store): ₱9,490 list for men's and women's pairs, as of 29 Oct 2026. One men's colourway (1041A438-300) was on sale at ₱5,694.
  • Play It Right (authorized reseller): lists both the men's and women's FF 3, but both showed out of stock.
  • Resellers: we saw a women's pair at ₱11,495 on a reseller that is not an authorized ASICS retailer, above ASICS PH's list price. Prices vary.

The FF 3 is being cleared out, so buy it while stock lasts. The newer Solution Speed FF 4 is the current model and what most PH shops now carry.

Rally PH Verdict: 4.1 / 5

Pros: exceptionally breathable for a tennis shoe (RunRepeat 5/5, the most breathable in its lab), which is a real plus in Manila heat; very light at 309 g; the thin AHARPLUS outsole still resists abrasion (0.4 mm wear vs 0.8 mm average); SPEEDTRUSS is built for quick cuts and acceleration.
Cons: not very stable for baseline players; standard width only; it's on clearance, with the authorized reseller out of stock and the FF 4 now the current model; we haven't playtested it.
If you're a quick, footwork-first player on Manila hard courts and can find your size at the official price, it's one of the coolest-running shoes you can wear in Philippine heat. If you're a baseliner, get the Court FF 3.
