Our shoes roundup picks the ASICS Gel Resolution X as Best for Stability. This review covers what Filipino players want to know: how ASICS' most stable tennis shoe holds up on Manila's outdoor hard courts, how it handles Philippine heat, and where to buy it in the PH, including the wide-fit versions.

Note: Rally PH has not playtested the Gel Resolution X. This review draws on ASICS Philippines' product pages, RunRepeat's independent lab data, PAGASA heat data, and our check of PH retailers on 29 October 2026.

Specs at a glance

  • Style codes: men 1041A481 (standard D) · women 1042A279 (standard B) · wide: men 1041A487 (2E) · women 1042A278 (wide D)
  • Tech (as ASICS Philippines lists it): DYNAWALL for stability, DYNALACING for a stable fit during dynamic movements, a two-piece midsole for more stable landings, Forefoot GEL for impact absorption, an AHARPLUS rubber outsole for durability, and PGUARD to protect the forefoot-inside area of the upper. ASICS' global materials also name FF BLAST PLUS as its cushioning.
  • Weight: 417 g (14.7 oz) in a men's US 9, "one of the heaviest tennis shoes" RunRepeat has tested
  • Outsole thickness: 4.5 mm, against a 4.1 mm average (RunRepeat)

ASICS says the Gel Resolution X is for "players who like to control the game from the baseline", and that DYNAWALL "now extends into the heel for added stability during lateral movements." It's the current model. ASICS' 2026 line-up names it the Stability shoe, next to the Solution Speed FF 4 for speed.

On Manila hard courts

Hard and shell courts dominate public play in Metro Manila, and the marquee public venues are hard. Rizal Memorial Tennis Center in Malate has newly resurfaced hard courts (₱600/hr by day and ₱1,000/hr from 5 PM through PSC booking), and CCP in Pasay has four outdoor hard courts. Rally's court directory tags venues such as Rizal Memorial, CCP, Kerry Sports Manila, Makati Sports Club, and Meralco as hard. If you're not sure what you play on, see our court surface guide.

Lateral support is what this shoe is built for. In RunRepeat's lab it scored Stability 98 (against Speed 60), and its torsional rigidity got 5/5 ("couldn't even give it the slightest twist"). RunRepeat also says that "very few tennis shoes can compete with the side-to-side stability offered by the ASICS Resolutions", and that the DYNAWALL frame "got even larger and sturdier compared to the 9." For long side-to-side rallies on Rizal Memorial or CCP, that's the appeal.

Hard courts are abrasive, and the outsole holds up well. RunRepeat measured only 0.6 mm of wear in its Dremel test (0.8 mm is average), with a 4.5 mm outsole and AHARPLUS rubber at 90.4 HC hardness. That's the thickest and hardest outsole of the three ASICS shoes we've reviewed. PGUARD covers the forefoot-inside area of the upper, which is where toe-drag scuffs happen on hard courts. For cushioning, ASICS lists Forefoot GEL and the two-piece midsole. RunRepeat found it "slightly softer than the average".

Heat and breathability: the honest caveat

PAGASA's "danger" heat index band is 42–51°C. In May 2026, forecasts reached 44°C at NAIA in Pasay and 42°C at Science Garden in Quezon City.

This is the Gel Resolution X's weak spot. RunRepeat gave it 2/5 for breathability (the average is 3). "The smoke could barely seep through the toebox", and its "protective layers and tightly woven mesh can make its interiors pretty hot and sweaty during intense games in warm weather." The padding is generous, with a 10.2 mm tongue against an 8.5 mm average and a "huge pillow in the collar area". At 417 g it's also heavier than the Court FF 3 (406 g) and much heavier than the Solution Speed FF 3 (309 g), as measured by RunRepeat.

So in Manila heat, plan around it. Book early mornings or evenings, outside the 11 AM–3 PM window, and bring moisture-wicking socks or a spare pair for long sessions.

Wide feet: get the Wide version

ASICS Philippines sells a separate GEL-RESOLUTION X WIDE: 2E for men (1041A487) and wide D for women (1042A278). We didn't see a 4E. RunRepeat notes that the forefoot midsole is "very wide", but the toebox narrows at the big toe (66.6 mm against a 69.3 mm average). If your feet are broad, try the Wide version rather than sizing up.

Stability vs speed: which ASICS fits you

The three ASICS shoes in our roundup cover different games. The Court FF 3 is the all-round pick. The Solution Speed FF 3 is the light, airy speed shoe, and RunRepeat lists "not very stable for baseline players" as one of its cons. The Gel Resolution X is the planted baseline option. Choose it if you grind side to side from the back of the court and value lateral support and outsole life over lightness and airflow.

Where to buy in the Philippines

On 29 October 2026 we found:

  • ASICS Philippines (official online store): ₱10,190 list for the men's, men's wide, women's, and women's wide versions, as of 29 Oct 2026. Some colourways were on sale, including men's wide 1041A487-101 at ₱7,133 and women's wide 1042A278-500 at ₱6,114.
  • Play It Right (authorized reseller): lists the men's and women's Gel Resolution X, but both showed out of stock.
  • ZALORA: ₱10,290 for one colourway, sold as a marketplace listing.
  • Resellers: Pimpkicks, The Grace Sole, Automakicks, and BIM Store also carry it, at roughly ₱8,200–₱10,899 depending on the shop and colourway. Some of them also stock wide pairs. These shops are not authorized ASICS retailers, and prices vary.

Because this is the current model, ASICS PH's official store is the simplest buy, and it carries the Wide versions.

Rally PH Verdict: 4.1 / 5

Pros: class-leading lateral stability (RunRepeat Stability 98, torsional rigidity 5/5, DYNAWALL into the heel); the thickest, hardest outsole of the three ASICS shoes, with only 0.6 mm of wear against a 0.8 mm average; Wide versions (men's 2E, women's wide D) at ASICS Philippines; current model at an official ₱10,190 list.
Cons: low breathability (RunRepeat 2/5), which is a real drawback in Manila heat; heavy at 417 g; the toebox narrows at the big toe; we haven't playtested it.
If you're a baseliner who wants the most planted ASICS on Manila hard courts, this is the one, especially in the Wide version if your feet are broad. If you overheat easily or play mostly at midday, look at the Solution Speed FF 3, or the all-round Court FF 3.
