No. 8 seed Alexandra Eala is into the quarterfinals at the Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo (WTA 500). On Wednesday 28 October 2026 she came from a set down to beat Australia's Talia Gibson 4–6, 6–2, 6–0 in 1 hour 53 minutes.
Eala had opened with a 6-1, 6-2 win over wild card Mika Stojsavljevic. Gibson reached the round of 16 by beating qualifier Daria Kasatkina 6-0, 7-5. The R16 result is confirmed by the WTA and the tournament draw.
How she turned it
Gibson took the opener. Eala settled, won the next two sets, and — per the WTA match reaction — closed by winning the last nine games after taking 12 of the final 14.
