No. 2 seed Alexandra Eala is into the semifinals of the Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open (WTA 250, Victoria Park). On Friday evening, 6 November 2026, she beat Croatia's Antonia Ruzic 7–6(7), 7–5 on Centre Court in 2 hours 30 minutes, according to the WTA match report.

It is her fourth semifinal of 2026. Philippine coverage from GMA News confirmed the result the same night.

How it went

The quarterfinal was chaotic from the start. The players combined for 29 break points and 11 breaks of serve, with Eala finishing ahead on winners (40–33) even as both racked up errors (47 unforced for Eala, 43 for Ruzic), per the WTA report.

The first set never settled. After traded breaks late, it went to a tiebreak — and Eala again found herself in the same shape as her Valentova win a night earlier. Per GMA, she raced to 5–0 in the breaker before the lead slipped; the WTA report says she let two set points slip away and had to save one against her. Ruzic reached a set point at 7–6. Eala saved it with a backhand return winner, struck an overhead winner for a third set point of her own, and finished the set with a forehand winner.

A brief rain delay of just over 20 minutes halted play midway through the second set. Following the delay, Eala immediately faced a break point; Ruzic converted it to level at 4–4, then held for 5–4. Eala swept the final three games to seal 7–5.

"It was a rollercoaster for sure and an incredible battle," Eala said in her on-court interview, per the WTA. "I don't know what inspired me or kept me digging deeper, but Antonia played a really amazing match, and I'm blessed to be able to play another round here."

Next: Maria Sakkari

In the semifinals Eala meets No. 4 seed Maria Sakkari of Greece — their first meeting on the WTA Tour, the WTA noted. The Saturday order of play lists the match on Centre Court at 4:00 PM PHT. See Rally’s Alex Eala tracker for match results.
